Exploring the connection between Art and Children’s Rights

When I first met the four young women who have created the Theater Group “Andromeda”, Fani Grilli, Dina Koukou, Sofia Rouva, Anastasia Tsoutsi, I was really impressed by their eagerness and consistency to contribute to the protection and promotion of children’s rights in Greece. Indeed, their knowledge on this topic, acquired through systematic study of issues regarding children’s rights, is remarkable.  .
The results of their constant work and effort were exquisite: a highly dynamic theater performance entitled “Κατανόησέ με ή σε Καταβροχθίζω” directed by Korais Damatis, under the auspices of Amnesty International (Greece) at Vault Theater Plus.
The play was based on children’s testimonies globally, research conducted by entities and experts on children’s rights, historical documents of the last 70 years, statistics and research on different forms of child abuse.
After the performance, the
Theater Group “Andromeda” very often organized and coordinated open discussion sessions involving the audience in a very interesting exchange of views on children rights. I had the honor and pleasure of participating in one of those sessions on January 29, 2020 together with the Greek National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Human Beings, Iraklis Moskof, and two of his team members, Marianna Christou and Zoe Kafiva.
I would like to thank the
Theater Group “Andromeda” for their pioneering work and invitation to the open discussion session! We are all looking forward to your next steps!
